The Second Coming 1995 bonus Dear Rock 1993 short movie
53min | Drama , Sci-Fi
Storyline:
Futuristic story of Carlos and Ben who fall in love in high school despite the racism and and homophobia. When Fundamentalist forces threaten to take over the U.S. the pair join forces with an underground resistance movement.
User review:
I think this film is misunderstood because it is being categorized and reaching the wrong audiences. At 55 minutes long, it is part art film, part cautionary tale, perhaps part propaganda. The cover art is misleading. Though it is an image from the film, the film is not a gay love story. It's not even targeted at the typical audience for gay films. The film's lead character, Carlos is gay. There are some erotic images in the film but one of those involves a M/M rape near the end. This film represents the disenfranchised. Even though it was produced 20 years ago, it's message is as important today as it was when it was made. The film's focus surrounds anti-gay and anti-semite activities.
At one point Carlos is cornered and asked what it is he hopes to gain from his 'subversive' activities and his response is, "I just want to live my life." This film isn't against religion but it does explore what happens when any one group with specific beliefs has too much power.

Mannen som elsket Yngve 2008

Mannen som elsket Yngve 2008
1h 30min | Comedy , Drama , Music | 15 February 2008 (Norway)
Storyline:
It's November 1989, and the Berlin Wall is falling. In Stavanger, Norway, teenage boy Jarle has a great new girlfriend and is starting a rock band with his buddies. But when a new boy, the synth pop-listening Yngve, joins his class, Jarle is more fascinated than he wants to be, and the world as he knows it starts to crumble.
User review:
People living in relatively small quantities in harsh environments tend to have uncommon attitudes towards love, friendship, alcohol, etc., but the development of globalisation has brought along and into several aspects of worldwide comprehensions and aspects. The film in question brings us back into the life in Stavanger in the late 1980ies when local youth attempted to enhance their own "small and ordinary" world, with globally influencing political events in the background. The viewers can follow a nice depiction of small events influencing bigger changes, including the development of characters and their views, implemented by smooth plot and good performances (particularty Rolf Kristian Larsen as Jarle Klepp, although he was ca. 7 years older than his character in the film).
I have to admit, however, that the start was more promising, and the ending solutions could have been wittier, more in the UK style (I have not read the book), or all just due to the fact that I do not belong into the target audience and have had no Nordic salad-days. Nevertheless, Mannen som elsket Yngve is far better than most of US so- called college movies.

We Don’t Belong Here 2017

We Don't Belong Here 2017
R | 1h 32min | Drama | 4 April 2017 (USA)
Storyline:
A matriarch of a dysfunctional family is pushed to her tipping point by the disappearance of her son.
Motion Picture Rating (MPAA)
Rated R for language.
User review:
I enjoyed this movie. It is a family character study about deeply troubled and mentally ill siblings, some of whom have dealt with childhood trauma. Three of the children (adult children) appear to have precognition, though only one of them seems to be aware of it and is able to use it to alter an event. Keener gives a superb performance as the mother. This family loves each other, although they each suffer internally with their own demons. This is a slow burn, but well worth a watch. All of the characters speak softly, it was a strain for me to hear sometimes. There is no yelling and only one violent scene. It is an emotional study of a loving family who just doesn't feel it "belongs here", meaning in this world.

Gingers 2013

Gingers 2013
15min | Documentary , Short , Adult | 14 April 2013 (UK)
Storyline:
Gingers. Redheads. Fire crotches… This film collects samples of their testimonials and their body hair, skin and sperm. It is about being different genetically, about gay gingers, doubly in a minority, from Ireland to Israel to Brazil. A film made especially for ginger lovers.
User review:
Seriously NSFW, this is an intimate, sexy, almost naughty look at the lives, experiences and bodies of a group of ginger guys, from their schoolyard bullying to their sexual awakening and beyond. This is a must for any ginger men or fans thereof, an intimate treat with a cheeky smile and a naughty (and probably quite sticky) ending. Even if you're not a fan of redheads, the first half of the film offers an interesting insight into the lives of those who, as children, were bullied for their appearance and are, in later life, finding the table have turned and what once made them outcast now offers exciting advantages in the worlds of love and sex. Bloody lovely.

Downriver 2015
1h 39min | Drama | 7 August 2015 (Australia)

Storyline:
James has served time for drowning a little boy when he was a child, although the body was never found in the river. A visit from his victim's mother upon parole sends him on a quest to find the truth. With little time and danger at every turn, James risks his freedom and his life to uncover the trail of sins that might give closure to the grieving mother.

User review:
If Stephen King wrote a novella set in Australia this would be its love child! However we are not in the state of Maine, but in a river town in Australia. Young James has served his time for allegedly drowning a boy when he was only a child and is being released; the body of the boy however was never found. James, having little memory of what occurred on the day, goes in search of answers and hence back to the river town where the incident occurred. This tense film mystery is at times quite macabre and often brutal, but through it's wonderful lead actor Reef Ireland it also has emotional depth. This is an auspicious feature debut for director Grant Scicluna, who also wrote the screenplay; his sense in creating such a dark and intense mood throughout the film is quite an achievement. Kudos must also be given to Tom Green who plays James' mysterious and troubled childhood friend, and of course the great Kerry Fox who plays James' mother. I saw the film recently at a film festival in Sydney to a packed audience, where it was warmly received. It deserves a much wider audience.

Sevilla 2012

Sevilla 2012
11min | Short , Drama | 2 October 2012 (Netherlands)
Storyline:
Three youngsters go on a road trip to Seville that will change their lives forever.
User review:
A group of friends go on a road trip; a man, his girlfriend and his best male friend. They impulsively decide to make the journey to Sevilla to have a good time and along the way experience great moments and memories together.
To say too much more than this would be to give away too much about this film, which isn't to say there is a Sixth Sense twist at the end, but with films this short you do pretty much either know the whole story or you don't – and in most cases it is better if you don't. Sevilla is essentially a microcosm of youth in one simple narrative which covers a lot of ground. We see our three characters with their freedom, their joy, their energy and their interlocking relationships. Although it is never expressly said that the two men are also experiencing attraction, for sure there is a closeness there that is more than ordinary. The trio experience moments of great memory and these are edited with a cool soundtrack and sun-kissed cinematography. I liked very much that in this one scene in particular that the next scene absolutely crashes across this one (even cutting the music dead) to one of just practical, dull driving – showing that life is not a montage.

HEET WATER 2014

Mein Sohn Helen 2015

Mein Sohn Helen 2015
1h 29min | TV Movie 24 April 2015
User review:
This movie had a lot of potential. The actors were very good and Helen made a convincing female, which many movies about transgendered people do not have. The issue here was the far too thin plot. It stretched the same issues for transgendered people to when they were no longer believable. The main plot that Finn goes away to California and one year later Helen returns is played decently, the problem is that nobody seems to talk with anyone until it's already been done. From her father's initial reaction it's understandable that Helen and her mother sneaked behind his back for almost nine years before telling him, what's not understandable is that Helen just assumes that coming home dressed the way she is will cause issues that could have been avoided. Had she eased her father and the school into this step-by-step instead of just coming out and expect everyone to treat her as every other girl then she wouldn't have been abused the way she had and she would have saved a lot of mental anxiety. I understand that Helen, in her naiveté, hopes for everyone to see her as she wants to be seen but that's not how the world works. The actor playing re-closeted Finn does a splendid job of portraying the real emotions and anxiety that a transgendered person feel at such a moment and is the big plus of this film. The big minus comes from the over-sugared ending where everything just solves itself during a dull one year flash-forward. Everyone who initially rejected Helen are now super-positive about her and everyone is so happy about it. Had the director wanted to keep this movie realistic then they should at least have some people who are so conservative that they wouldn't ever accept her for who she was. So the movie was enjoyable and realistic at times while it still lacked that real realism, which would have made this movie fantastic.

Four Days in France 2016

Four Days in France 2016
Jours de France (original title)
2h 17min | Comedy , Drama , Romance | 22 March 2017 (France)
User review:
Gay viewers who expect this film to be a round of hot erotic encounters – or an intense melange of mystery and explicit sex like Giraudie's Stranger by the Lake – will be disappointed. Filmmaker Jérôme Reybaud has made a road movie with a decidedly gay focus, but his scope is more varied and bemused. His protagonist, 36-year-old Pierre Thomas (Pascal Cervo), though well primed for a tour of gay France with an attractive new white Alfa sedan and a smart phone loaded with Grindr, the worldwide gay hookup app, is as much as anything on a "fugue," as the French call it, an escape and a wild ramble. He's run off in the night from his Paris lover Paul (Arthur Igual) and gone wandering. After he fails to show up for a production of Cosi fan tutte for which Paul got them €150 seats, Paul goes in frantic pursuit of Pierre, using Grindr in turn as a search tool. As for Pierre, he goes where chance takes him, running into oddballs and old ladies more than hot men. This movie is whimsical, elegant, pretty, literary, a little too pleased with itself – and not really all that sexy. It requires some patience. In compensation it has humor, variety, poetry. And some sex.
Grindr is a geographical-locator app gay men list themselves on: options pop up wherever you go, and the use of it makes this look for a minute like an updated French country-wide version of John Retchy's pre-AIDS novel Numbers, in which a narcissist a tad past prime goes on a frantic sex tour of gay L.A., racking up as many sweaty, sperm-soaked encounters as possible in a ten-day period. Pierre starts out promisingly with Matthieu (Mathieu Chevé), a cute young guy in Bourges, who wants Pierre to pick him up on his way back and take him to Paris. But Pierre has no plan to return to Paris. He has no plan. He tells Matthieu to go to Paris on his own.
Pierre himself isn't wholly on his own. He calls his aunt, a theatrical grande dame, who cites Breton: "Hit the road." As someone else, a salesman (Bertrand Nadier) whom Pierre kisses, the masturbates thinking of through a wall, says, "only a car can give you certain sensations" of the land. Pierre becomes an automotive flaneur, a leisurely wanderer. When Matthieu gives him a package and a note for a lady up in the mountains, he later delivers it. Later he encounters a series of people, including a petty thief (female, Lætitia Dosch) who takes some of the most prized possessions he has with him; a fat old barkeep who wants only wordless, impersonal sex. He has a pretty, odd young godson, obviously gay, who haunts public toilets and memorizes facts about French towns. Pierre comes across a former teacher, now a mere provincial bookseller (Nathalie Richard). There are various ladies of a certain age – no young pretty ones. But Paul, hot on the trail, gets a blow job from a plain woman (Corinne Courège) working for a roadside fast food joint called Happy Dough (La Pâte à Bonheur) – out of kindness, because she won't take the mere €5 she's asking as a gift without providing the service.
4 Days in France has handsome cinematography, rich in painterly landscape, by Sabine Lancelin; the editing includes jump cuts expressive of Pierre's rudderless travels. The score includes classical excerpts, some opera. And a happy ending.

Is Anybody There 2008

Is Anybody There 2008
PG-13 | 1h 34min | Drama | 1 May 2009 (UK)
Storyline:
Set in 1980s seaside England, this is the story of Edward, an unusual ten year old boy growing up in an old people's home run by his parents. Whilst his mother struggles to keep the family business afloat, and his father copes with the onset of mid-life crisis, Edward is busy tape-recording the elderly residents to try and discover what happens when they die. Increasingly obsessed with ghosts and the afterlife, Edward's is a rather lonely existence until he meets Clarence, the latest recruit to the home, a retired magician with a liberating streak of anarchy. Is Anybody There? tells the story of this odd couple – a boy and an old man – facing life together, with Edward learning to live in the moment and Clarence coming to terms with the past.
Motion Picture Rating (MPAA)
Rated PG-13 for language including sexual references, and some disturbing images
User review:
Small films such as "Is Anybody There?" usually aren't there, at least as far as box office impact. This one may have a chance at some return because of Sir Michael Caine's role as a retirement home denizen in 1980's England. Caine infuses the ex-magician with a bit of movie magic—cynicism baked with pathos and one of the greatest cinema voices ever.

Closets 2015
19min | Short , Drama , Sci-Fi | August 2015 (USA)
Storyline:
CLOSETS is an interesting, unusual film with a sci-fi twist. It features a tormented 16 year old boy called Henry who, on 12 March 1986, time travels through his bedroom closet and meets up with a similar present day teenager, Ben, occupying his same bedroom 30 years later. Ben and Henry's developing friendship highlights past and present-day issues facing young gay teenagers. While our society's attitudes towards LGBTs has improved dramatically over the past three decades, Ben and Henry's story shows that confusion about sexual identity and homophobic bullying, can still result in self harming and suicidal intentions. These two teenagers from different time zones develop a deep friendship offering each support and optimism for the future. This is an unusual, compassionate and ultimately uplifting story, peppered with sorrow, humour and hope.

Starring Tommy Knight (Waterloo Road, The Sarah Jane Smith Adventures), Ceallach Spellman (Cucumber) and Julie Hesmondhalgh (Coronation Street), and winner of both the Youth Award and Best Of British Award at Iris 2015, Closets follows a young man in the 1980s struggling with his sexuality and a mother who won't accept difference. Né Giulietta né Romeo (2015)
1h 44min | Comedy | 19 November 2015 (Italy)
Storyline:
First film directed by Veronica Pivetti. The theme of the film is bullying and homophobia of a teenager at school.
User review:
The original title of this Italian film is "Ne Giuletta Ne Romeo" and is a better title and more indicative of what this film is all about. It centres on Rocco who is a teenager with a best friend in Maria – they are trying to lose their virginity to each other but things aren't quite coming to a head – as it were. He plays rugby at school but has attracted the unwanted attention of the school bully just at a time when a handsome but 'poetic' new lad starts school and Rocco has feelings that are not quite 'hetero' enough.
Meanwhile his favourite pop star is outed and goes on a farewell tour. Rocco realises he has to see his idol and enlists the help of Maria and Mauri to get to the gig. Only his mum is after him – as he has come out and refused counselling – and his self declared fascist Gran is in cahoots with his mum and so begins the road trip of self discovery.

The Young Offenders 2016

The Young Offenders 2016
1h 23min | Comedy | 16 September 2016 (Ireland)
Storyline:
Inspired by the true story of Ireland's biggest cocaine seizure in 2007, The Young Offenders is a comedy road movie about best friends Conor and Jock, two inner-city teenagers from Cork who dress the same, act the same, and even have the same bum-fluff mustaches. Jock is a legendary bike thief who plays a daily game of cat-and-mouse with the bike-theft-obsessed Garda Sergeant Healy. When a drug-trafficking boat capsizes off the coast of West Cork and 61 bales of cocaine, each worth 7 million euro, are seized, word gets out that there is a bale missing. The boys steal two bikes and go on a road trip hoping to find a missing bale which they can sell so as to escape their troubled home lives….But Sergeant Healy is in hot pursuit.
User review:
Really enjoyed this film. It's always good to see an Irish film that is not directly targeting an overseas audience. it's been made with genuine Irish actors, with accents from the counties where the film is made, adding to the feeling that this really is true to the story. The two main actors are brilliant and very believable. The viewer is not bogged down by morality even though there is a darker subtext it is shown in a light hearted way, and to add context to the story rather than just elicit sympathy. Having some insight into the background of the boys does give a good insight into why the boy would want to steal the drugs and their naïve plan is charming in its own way. Give this film a go.

Nude Dudes 2014
10min | Short , Adult | 27 July 2014 (UK)
Storyline:
Nude Dudes is about my experience during my visit in Tel Aviv. I was hosted by Matan and Menache, two young guys who practice nudism in their own house. While being flatmates they openly expose their sexual interests to each other and their guests. Managing their online dating profiles is a part of their daily routine. I was intrigued by their non-tabooed dynamic. They brought me to the nudists beach where to my delight I saw a similar openness from the crowd. Away from the open Mediterranean waters, an unforgettable experience was swimming in the Dead Sea with two guys I had met at the festival I was attending at the time. Connection, freedom, sex, elevated senses and feelings, ejaculating life in those dead waters. Its unique composition transported all three of us to another stimulating dimension. After all, no matter the conflicts in the area I felt connected and open for a better well being like the locals do.

A man invites another guy he trains with to spend some time in his country house among other male friends.
User review:
In 2013 Marco Berger wrote and directed 'Hawaii', a film whose central premise was a will-they-won't-they relationship between two young men whiling away the summer in a nice house. Two years later Martín Farina made 'Fulboy', a documentary about a football team that was characterised by random conversations and far too many extreme close-ups of various body parts that made it difficult to know who was talking at any one time. So what is the result when Berger and Farina make a film together?
Hosting a group of male friends at his family's nice house for a summer break, Fernando also invites Germán, a team-mate from his taekwondo class. While the rest of the gang – usually clad only in shorts and occasionally in nothing at all – engage in random conversation, Germán wonders if Fernando is going to come on to him. But is Fernando homosexual anyway?

The difficulty of establishing beauty and the futility of power.
User review:
Falling star is a very refreshing digression. It's full of trickery and has an irreverent and Arcadian attitude.
The movie centres around King Amadeo I of Spain, and the farcical position in which he found himself. Invited to become the Spanish monarch by General Prim he travels from his ducal seat in Italy to practically live under house arrest for his entire reign after the assassination of his sponsor on the eve of his coronation. Amadeo's father was the King of Sardinia, later of Italy, and he'd been brought up to be a ruler, trained all his life. He is tolerated by those who use him for he knows not what and all his grand plans for Spain entirely ignored. He chooses to remain in this gilded cage, who knows why, perhaps he stubbornly believed that the mandarins would change their minds, that he was to be to Spain what Charles II was to England, that he could march into parliament and shoo the bickerers away.

Baby Shark 2005

Baby Shark 2005
Bébé requin (original title)
15min | Short | 18 May 2005 (France)
User review:
Perhaps the best Pascal-Alex Vincent's short film to date, "Bebé Requin" neatly weaves three stories of teenage relationships and the lack of communication in postmodern society. And by postmodern we could understand 'fragmented', that yearns for the whole. Here such fragmentation is related directly to the advent of technology. In the first story, a boy and a girl sit together semi-naked whilst the boy entertains himself with online gaming (technology). The cries of death come from the game as a mumbled cacophony that fills the room. There is not a word spoken between them, and when the door ring bells, they're forced to get dressed. A boy has come to visit them. And while he stares taciturnly into the screen, he seems to make a decision and "breaks the ice", so to speak.
The recently arrived boy removes his shirt, unzips his pants and walks towards the other boy, demanding to have his penis sucked. Of course, there is no reasonable reaction from either the girl or the boy. They continue to sit down, he continues to play and only ventures that the distraction is going to make him lose, even so he briefly practices fellatio on his friend, although the girl refuses to do the same. They are deeply concentrated on the screen, which is only mirroring the indifference of our time. But what does our era enjoin us to do? We must either survive through the simulacrum or succumb to the real, this foreclosure bequeaths us or sustains turning away from communication. When the girl refuses to provide pleasure to the boy, he hits them both with his skateboard. Once he's gone, we still see the boy and the girl, faces covered in blood, sitting on the couch, and he's still playing with the same feeling of boredom in his eyes.
The second story is a hyperbole of the lack of communication, as a teenager tries, day after day, to talk to another boy. He talks and talks and talks, and he never receives an answer; his interlocutor barely looks at him and keeps on walking. As philosopher Alan Badiou would explain, communication transmits a universe made up of disconnected images, remarks, statements and commentaries whose accepted principle is incoherence. And it's only through the incoherent ramblings of the lonely teenager that we understand the relevance of true rapport.
In the third story, the male body is the center of the narrative. Quoting Badiou: "We will call 'body' the worldly dimension of the subject and 'trace' that which, on the basis of the event, determines the active orientation of the body. A subject is therefore a formal synthesis between the statics of the body and its dynamics, between its composition and its effectuation". It's only fitting, then, to observe the body duplicated, in this case, in twin brothers that carry out different dynamics. After all, one of them is gladly involved in a sexual relationship with a girl, and subsequently the other one is furiously jealous. When one of the brothers hits the other in order to supplant him during the intercourse, it's made clear that the "active orientation of the body" can easily surmount the established boundaries.

Little Darlings 1980
1h 36min | Comedy , Drama | 21 March 1980 (USA)
Storyline:
Fifteen year olds Ferris Whitney and Angel Bright meet when they attend the same summer camp and are assigned the bunks next to each other in the same cabin. It's hate at first sight as they are seemingly polar opposites: romantic and literate Ferris comes from a wealthy and thus privileged background, while streetwise and chain-smoking Angel is from the proverbial wrong side of the tracks. But they share one similarity: they are both virgins, the only ones of their age in their cabin. Due to pressure from their cabin mates, most specifically the aggressive Cinder Carlson, the two enter into a bet on who will lose their virginity first and by the end of the summer. Ferris, who initially seems more interested in the pursuit of the opposite sex, quickly sets her sights on Gary Callahan, the much older coach at the camp. But Angel finds her own target, namely Randy Adams, an equally streetwise boy attending the camp across the lake. The process becomes a bonding exercise for the two girls, who take divergent paths to their end goal and in dealing with the aftermath of the alleged big events.

Little Darlings is a classic teen movie but the appeal is that it can actually be enjoyed by all ages. I have seen this one and one half times. I FIRST saw it when I was a kid but I actually think it can be enjoyed as much or more as an adult. Little darlings is both a cute movie and a fun one-although it's a light movie, the characters go through and tackle, issues all young girls deal with in a fun non preachy manner and is pretty accurate in many places too. The reason it is so much fun to watch as an adult is for nostalgia purposes. Set at summercamp, it sort of takes you back to your youth. The movie is dated as anything and when I recently caught it again I almost had to laugh at the dated aspect but the fact remains it can still be enjoyed today.Teens will identify with it, adults will reminded of times gone by.

Decadence 1999
1h 19min | Horror | 1999 (Germany)
User review:
The story is about 3 crazy guys who kill tourists in the mountains. They raise a captured kid to be like them.
While the actor's play is not the strongest point, the story, some scenes are so intense, rough and beautiful. Starting from the opening credits, you get enough blood and meat for a month (unless you are deadly addicted to this kind of movies).
The relationship between the main character and the kid are interesting, and are essentially the plot.
The music is immense, and adds another dimension to the film, really pounding to the tight image editing.

Storyline:
Danzig in the 1920s/1930s. Oskar Matzerath, son of a local dealer, is a most unusual boy. Equipped with full intellect right from his birth he decides at his third birthday not to grow up as he sees the crazy world around him at the eve of World War II. So he refuses the society and his tin drum symbolizes his protest against the middle-class mentality of his family and neighborhood, which stand for all passive people in Nazi Germany at that time. However, (almost) nobody listens to him, so the catastrophe goes on…
User review:
For me, this was definitely a hit-and-miss film, but luckily, most of the good things about this movie are also quite memorable. This is a weird movie, for better or for worse, but because it is so strange, there is absolutely no way that you will find this predictable. In fact, if you know little or nothing about this movie, keep it that way so that you can appreciate each odd twist when you watch it for the first time. I found the movie to be somewhat overlong, and the best parts of the story tended to be earlier in the film, but much of this picture is top-notch. I think most people would agree that love it or hate it, this is certainly a film that you won't soon forget.

User review:
I'm not a porn historian but I find this compilation of shorts black and white and mute feature really timeless and can't be bought by money. I can't really imagine more than 100 years porn (one clip form 1905) still good (good in every way), watchable and enjoyable.
One the most interesting scenes are the homosexual parts. Like I said earlier that I'm not a historian, but as far as I know, gay porn and gay themes in short or full features around 1950's still consider as taboo. So I think this is a long risky step ahead era at the times which is completely great!

306 is a film that makes the viewer question: Is the closest person in your life normal? A family member, friend, or a lover? What is the norm that we are suppose to follow in life? Or more specifically: What is Eric Hays hiding? 306 gives the viewer a chance to see a secret that no one else gets to see.

seductive manner to propose a simple question – who is the other? not out of ordinary secrets but what is the detail who defines him ? the manner used by director to suggest more to say, to give clues without a verdict, to guide the viewer in a trip and create the right end are admirable. because all seems be around the title. number of the days from year. number of the first hotel room. number of days elapsed on the first date. it is only a day. from many other. before and after the story. and this fact does it special. and almost perfect portrait of the common existence as shelter of a dark side of it. more important – the kick to reflection. about the other, sure. and about ourselves.

Breaking It… A Story About Virgins 1984

Breaking It… A Story About Virgins 1984
1h 22min | Adult , Comedy | Video 1984
Storyline:
A narrator shows the first sexual experience of various people, from a teenage boy's encounter with an older woman to a high school student's seduction of her teacher.
User review:
What the title suggests is being broken here refers to a girl's maidenhead, more commonly described as her virginity. That's right, sports fans, well before long-running (try interminable) video series like CHERRY POPPERS popularized the matter there was already an entire movie out there devoted to this subject, treated with all the cavalier carnality one would expect the adult industry to attribute to such a pivotal event in a young woman's life. Seriously though, this proves one of the better latter-day efforts from film-making duo Svetlana and David Frazer, a furtive final flicker in the wake of the euphoria of their Ginger Lynn Hawaiian movies (SURRENDER IN PARADISE being first among equals) as they hit the downward slope by milking their BAD GIRLS franchise for all it was worth, interspersed with direly over-plotted nonsense like ANOTHER ROLL IN THE HAY. As adult "auteurs", they had all but invented the girlie show, vehicles almost solely intended to show off brand-new starlets, and by the mid-'80s they had it down to a science.
Following an utterly believable pre-credits deflowering of perky Bunny Bleu by her equally blond and just as inexperienced beau Shone Taylor (who played Sharon Kelly's son in Kirdy Stevens' TABOO V), future filmmaker Paul Thomas narrates this series of quite literal "coming of age" vignettes, assisted by his cute and as of yet unspoiled niece Roxanne Rollan, best remembered for Frazer and Svetlana's PINK LAGOON. He will have her out of her clothes and on her back for the flick's climax. First up is the notorious Traci Lords, Ms. Underage Porn herself, glowing with pubescent health before hair and make-up lacquered her into semi-android super-stardom. She's a high school honey with the hots for sex ed teacher John Leslie who initially resists yet ultimately buckles under pressure. Her dad Jamie Gillis gets to do the honors with his daughter's classmate "Nancy Rivers", actually Penthouse Pet Jody Swafford who made a handful of adult features – including Bill Milling's glossy ALL American GIRLS II – changing moniker on every occasion. By whatever name you call her, she's quite a stunner with that white lacy dress uncovering tanned perfection in a scorching scene that nicely builds from tentative tenderness to full throttle passion.

A concerned father of a six year old takes it the wrong way.
User review:
This short film is about a father discovering his six year old son who writes about 'dik'.
In just the space of ten minutes (and that includes the credits), "dik" manages to take the viewers through a plethora of intense dramas. From a boy proclaiming to like 'dik', to the parents' revelation of experimentation, then more hell breaks loose and the situation becomes irretrievably damaged. "dik" is fast paced, quick witted, and very entertaining. I just could not stop laughing as one can of worms is opened after another. There are so many surprises and jokes, that every second of it is entertaining. And the ending is so good, but I will not spoil it here. It really amazes me to see that so much drama can be packed into ten minutes. Watch it if you have the chance.

Max und Moritz Reloaded 2005

Max und Moritz Reloaded 2005
1h 27min | Action , Comedy | 28 April 2005 (Germany)
User review:
Max und Moritz reloaded is an old story by Wilhelm Busch about two really mean brats that torture their environment and are force the tortured ones to respond. The reloaded film reinterprets the age old story in a present days German setting.
In Germany, when this film was released, the critics were not at all euphoric about it, and as far as I can tell, they were successful in keeping the crowd out of the theatres. Shame on them! This film is a hilarious farce, telling the story of two Hamburg brats, their alcoholic mother, a devoted social worker Paula (also the wet dream of the two boys) who are sent to an Eastern German boot camp. This boot camp is managed by two gay former army guys, and in a way they get to get along with each other. Of course, this takes some time, and lots of adventures are there to entertain you. But there is also the bordello master Hanne, and he gives the two boys a really hard time. Be excited to see the end of the film and what happens to Hanne and Max und Moritz! Max und Moritz reloaded is wonderfully not pc, sparkling with fine ideas, clear cut characters and a stunning rhythm. Action is followed by mind bending landscape shots, and then it goes boom again. Interspersed is the film with occasional cartoon sequences (perfect: the hilarious Paula on ice piece), and there are lots of songs integrated, also in a very nice manner. If you are a fan of justifying delight in entertainment you might even say there are some social dimensions of German life today to be found. But this does not do the film justice. It is an entertainment piece, and I think it does one thing: entertain you at its best (if you like trashy stuff).
The cast is generally good or excellent, you can see that everyone must have liked what they were doing. The most disturbing and mind-shaking appearances are by Ben Becker, who does an unbelievable job at acting as a sugar daddy. This must become a classic.
I can only hope that the DVD is as successful as this film deserves. Unfortunately, the market for trashy comedies in Germany might not be ready for this film yet (still). Everyone who thought that Goddbye Lenin was a little too slow and boring should like this film. Or maybe it simply is the film that Schlingensief simply does not know how to do? Try for yourself, sit back, relax, and be entertained! For friends of directors like Wenzel Storch and Christoph Schlingensief. For friends of films like "Frau Rettich, die Czerny und ich", "Komm süßer Tod", "Muttertag" by Roland Düringer.

Motion Picture Rating (MPAA)

User review:
"Beneath the Darkness" was a great movie in some ways, but also a somewhat mediocre movie in others. It was like taking a trip back to the late 1980's or early 1990's story-wise. Personally I found the story a little bit too far fetched for my liking, as I didn't think that any rational and sane person would return to the house after seeing a friend killed. But hey, wouldn't be much of a movie if they didn't, eh?

I am absolutely disgusted by the pro-pedophilia message woven into the body-acceptance messages in this movie! The main story line, is of a pedophile who goes to a human trafficker to purchase a blind girl child for sex because his wife has just had a baby and he fears he will molest it. He ends up leaving his wife and child for fear of one day molesting his son, but when the boy grows up he ends up killing himself in an attempt to become sexually attractive to his father and the father is left with carrying the grief that his son would still be alive if he had just molested him….. LA Plays Itself 1972

LA Plays Itself 1972
51min | Adult , Drama | April 1972 (USA)
Storyline:
The film opens on a shot of the "Los Angeles City Limits" sign. It then cuts to Fred Halsted taking a walk in the forest and coming upon a man sunning himself in the nude. They briefly talk and end up having passionate sex in the wilderness only to be interrupted by bulldozers destroying the wildlife area in order to build a new suburb. The film suddenly switches to inner city Los Angeles as Halsted and a man from Texas discuss in voice over the problems with modern society and the dishonesty of most people. This is inter-cut with shots of hustlers, bums, vagrants, porn theaters and shops, as well as footage of a man (presumably the Texan) being brutally tortured by Halsted. Eventually the man is bound and left helpless in a closet, a symbol of the violent and trapping nature of Los Angeles. The film ends on shots of newspapers saying that a young man was found dead after being tortured.
User review:
Fred Halsted spurted onto the gay porn scene just as the genre was gathering momentum as well as a modicum of "real world" respectability. The year was 1972 and groundbreaking adult movies like Gerard Damiano's THROAT and MISS JONES and the Mitchell Brothers' decidedly different GREEN DOOR had instigated the all too short-lived "Porno Chic" trend on the straight end of a budding skin flick industry. With his homo hardcore harbinger BOYS IN THE SAND, Broadway choreographer turned erotic "auteur" Wakefield Poole actually preceded what was to become known as the genre's Big Three by facilitating his film's first screenings in late '71. In truth, Halsted beat them all to the punch, or indeed might have if endless delays and difficulties hadn't kept him from finishing his still astonishing first work a full four (!) years after initial shooting had begun as early as 1968. Staking out his position in a slowly filling market place, he brought a downbeat West Coast sensibility to counteract the idealized imaginings of such early East Coast alumni like Poole and Jack Deveau.
It's impossible to discuss the life and work of Fred Halsted without taking into account his longtime lover Joseph "Joey" Yale, a down on his luck stage performer who attempted porn on a lark – not uncommon in those days among out of work thespians – and stuck around as the director's live-in lover and business partner in their production and distribution company Cosco until his AIDS-related death in 1986. Three years later, Fred would take his own life, overdosing on sleeping pills, even though at least one source (The Leather Journal) claimed he had shot himself through the head instead. His oft-cited suicide note read : "I had a good life. I've had looks, a body, money, success and artistic triumphs. I've had the love of my life. I see no reason to go on." May they both rest in peace…

Overachieving college student Jason Moss, fascinated by serial crime, decides to write his criminology class term paper on John Wayne Gacy, who is on death row and scheduled to be executed in six months time. Jason's criminology professor, Mr. Harris, will only allow Jason to write his paper on Gacy if Jason can come up with a fresh angle, as he himself believes the topic of serial killers is already overexposed. After writing Gacy a nondescript letter and receiving a questionnaire from Gacy in return, Jason believes the fresh angle would be truly to get inside Gacy's head, specifically to learn what makes him tick, by presenting himself in subsequent correspondence to Gacy as Gacy's "type", i.e. a vulnerable young man from a dysfunctional family and thus who is possibly at risk. Despite the advice that he needs to watch out for cunning Gacy, Jason is certain he can outsmart the serial criminal at his own game. Things take an unexpected turn for Jason when he starts receiving telephone calls from Gacy, who was able to find out his number. As Jason feels he has to do further field work based on things that Gacy wants him to report back on, Jason may find that he is not as well equipped emotionally to handle the situation than he first believed, potentially leading to serious consequences both for himself and those around him.

"Balls to the Wall" was exactly what I had expected it to be; a rather mediocre comedy. Now, I say mediocre because this movie is conflicted by two main issues. First, there is very little comedy in the movie (that will make me laugh), so that was a disappointment. On the upside, however, was the storyline. It was a brilliant storyline and well executed.

User review:
Director and co-writer (with Austin Bunn) John Krokidas have created an atmospheric visit to the beginnings of one of literary history's great movements – the Beat Generation – and in doing so have carved a fine story that combines not only the rise of the Beats but also examines the slow emergence of recognition of sexual identity crises, in both a positive and a critical manner. Cast with a group of very fine actors and accompanied with musical director Nico Muhly's sensitive score that includes the references to Brahms symphonies and trios and transcriptions of themes along with terrific excerpts from Harlem's jazz scene (courtesy of Dawn Newman as a jazz singer), this film is successful on many levels, not the least of which is the reminder of the permanent impact on American literature and sociology imprinted by the likes of Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs. The very sensitive opening sequence, appreciated only at film's end, sets the dark tone of the film and opens the window to understanding the Beats (also called "the Libertine Circle" by Ginsberg).

Wonderful film…full of realistic, thought-provoking scenes. Very relatable to our everyday experiences. The film explores themes of moving to a new home, racial challenges, coming of age and confronting one's weaknesses. It offers a nice balance between drama, humor and reality. Recommend it for any age, including young adults, who can relate to the young actors and their characters. The music choices are great; the music enhances the story and the visual. The acting–young and old–was spot on! The characters were so believable, that i fell into the story and wholeheartedly went along for the ride! I highly recommend this film!

User review:
Having seen virtually all of Jose Benazeraf's mainly excellent softcore 1960s movies and a good selection (over a dozen) of his later XXX offerings I was unprepared for this off-the-wall 1974 transitional film. This is one case where the dreaded "auteur's explanation" that accompanies so many wretched DVDs would be helpful.
I will offer my own pet theory, certainly wrong but convincing enough for me. I contend that Jose found the chance to travel to Italy and film an Italian co-production to be an irresistible opportunity to lampoon the then-current trend of Italian cinema to make sexy left-wing film tracts. Not like the Godard tracts of the '60s, but many wonderful and hokey movies that I love, like Ugo Tognazzi fighting the class struggle against Romy Schneider in LA CALIFFA or any of the Bellocchio efforts of the time.

Motion Picture Rating (MPAA)
Rated PG for fantasy violence, intense battle sequences and some frightening images
User review:
The movie follows nothing of the book's plot line. I think someone read like maybe ten chapters of the Eragon book and decided to make the movie. If they decide to make Eldest (The sequel to Eragon) it would be nothing like the book because they have changed too many things in this movie to carry the plot correctly. The plot of the movie shares nothing with the book and the characters (the ones they actually decided to add) share no similarities to the book's idea of them. The storyline used in the movie could have possibly been acceptable if it hadn't had such bad writing. The lines were mediocre and no one other than Brom, Eragon and Saphira had ten lines. Murtagh had like eight or nine lines through the whole movie, Nasuada and Ajihad had like two or three (and Nasuada doesn't say who she is) and Hrothgar had maybe one or two lines. They completely rushed the movie too quickly. Unless you read the book, you have no idea how Eragon learns to use magic and are left in the dark about most things. The actors did the best job they could with the horrid lines they were given to read. The special effects were great except that Saphira isn't supposed to have feathers. What dragon has feathers? Christopher Paolini says like fifty times in the book that Saphira's wings are a thin membrane. Also that Eragon is fifteen, not seventeen. Every problem comes back to the horrid writing. Bottom Line: Could have been a great and timeless movie. Not Lord of the Rings worthy.
